Optimal heat distribution (hydraulic balancing)
Optimal heat distribution (hydraulic balancing)
If the Home+ feature “Optimized Heat Distribution” (automatic hydraulic balancing) is canceled, the previously determined balance will not remain in effect.
The hydraulic balance will be reset.
The Home+ feature “Optimized Heat Distribution” (automatic hydraulic balancing) can only effectively optimize heat distribution if it can “see” and control all relevant radiators via a Bosch Smart Home Radiator Thermostat II [+M].
If even a single radiator is not integrated, the feature lacks some of the necessary information or control options. As a result, heat distribution cannot be optimally determined and adjusted—therefore, partial implementation is not recommended.
The potential energy savings from the Home+ “Optimized Heat Distribution” feature (automatic hydraulic balancing) depend heavily on the specific building and the existing heating system.
No. There is no subsidy available for the Home+ feature “Optimized Heat Distribution” (automatic hydraulic balancing), as the relevant subsidy is designed as a one-time payment.
The Home+ “Optimized Heat Distribution” feature (automatic hydraulic balancing) does currently not work with underfloor heating.
- Underfloor heating: The Room Thermostat II 230V is not supported.
- The feature is currently only available for the Bosch Smart Home Radiator Thermostat II [+M] in combination with Home+.
Yes. The Home+ “Optimized Heat Distribution” feature (automatic hydraulic balancing) checks the heating behavior of the radiators daily and dynamically adjusts the maximum valve opening.
Technically speaking, the Home+ “Optimized Heat Distribution” feature (automatic hydraulic balancing) replaces a manual hydraulic balancing performed by a professional. Therefore, a previously performed manual hydraulic balancing is not a prerequisite for the service to function.
Important: Since the feature can be canceled at any time in the Bosch Smart Home app and is subscription-based, it is not eligible for subsidies.
Yes, standard manual hydraulic balancing is usually optimized for winter operation at full load. In the spring, under partial load, the hydraulic system can change; the Home+ “Optimized Heat Distribution” feature checks the radiators’ heating behavior daily and automatically adjusts settings to further optimize heat distribution if necessary.
Demand-Based Heating (K40/MX400 Integration)
Demand-Based Heating (K40/MX400 Integration)
Yes, If the internet connection is lost, the “Demand-Optimized Heating” feature (K40/MX400 integration) remains active. The heating system and the Smart Home Controller communicate via the home’s Wi-Fi/LAN network as long as the router maintains the home’s Wi-Fi/LAN network.
Yes. The Home+ “Demand-Optimized Heating” feature is based on room temperature control and therefore works with all water-based heating systems, whether they use radiators or underfloor heating.
This requires the Bosch Smart Home Radiator Thermostat II [+M] and the Room Thermostat II 230V for underfloor heating.
In rooms controlled by Radiator Thermostats II, a minimum valve opening can be set, at which point the respective room is taken into account.
To prevent frequent cycling of the compressor, the on-off cycles are continuously monitored, and the heat demand of the smart home system is adjusted to prevent premature wear on the heating system.
- Demand-driven temperature specification: Your Bosch Smart Home Radiator Thermostats II [+M] or Room Thermostats II measure the current heating demand in each room . Based on this data, the Bosch Smart Home Controller identifies the room that currently requires the most heat. It then sends a precisely tailored temperature target to the heat pump for this specific room. This guarantees that your entire home remains comfortably warm without the heat pump wasting any unnecessary energy.
- Shared communication during startup and daily use:
- During initial setup: The Smart Home Controller gets to know your heat pump and receives essential basic information – such as the number of heating zones in your home and the type of heating system installed. In addition, the heat pump sends general status reports or, if necessary, error messages directly to the Smart Home system.
- During daily operation: The devices constantly exchange the current target temperature (setpoint) for the heating zones.
