My lamp, which is in the Smart plug, cannot be switched on (motion light, presence simulation, prerequisites, settings)?
Please check whether the "Light connected" check mark is set for the corresponding device under "Management" >> "Devices" >> "Smart plugs".
This setting causes the Smart plug to be treated as a luminaire and integrated into the "Motion light" and "Presence simulation" services. In addition, you can control the Smart plug under your "Favorites" via the "Room light" tile together with other lights in the room.
Why is only one battery included (Bosch Smart Home Motion detector, Empty battery)?
In normal operation, one battery provides a battery runtime of approx. 5 years. To extend this, you can optionally insert another battery.
Which tape is suitable for mounting the Bosch Smart Home Motion detector (requirements, installation)?
Only the supplied adhesive tape is suitable for mounting and installing the Motion detector. In principle, other adhesive tapes are also possible. However, we cannot provide any guarantee/warranty for these.
I am afraid to break the Motion detector if I pierce the holes. Can I break something (requirements, installation)?
Even if it doesn't seem so at first glance, the material at the breakthrough points is designed to be pierced with little force. Don't worry, you can't break anything here.
Why do I need the built-in spirit level (Motion detector, prerequisites, installation)?
The built-in spirit level allows you to ensure that the Motion detector is always properly aligned and hanging straight on the wall, especially when screw mounting.

How does motion detection (motion detector, infrared) work?
Bosch Smart Home Motion detector uses passive infrared technology. All bodies (people, animals, vehicles, trees, etc.) emit infrared heat rays. The Motion detector measures and compares the infrared radiation in its detection area, but does not emit any radiation itself and is therefore passive.
What is the theft protection (Motion detector, functions, mounting)?
The theft protection is a part of the Motion detector, which remains on the wall/corner when the device is forcibly removed and sends a signal to the controller and thus also to the connected smartphones. This only works reliably with screw mounting.
How often do I have to test the Motion detector (installation, empty battery)?
You only need to test the Motion detector once during installation. As soon as a malfunction should be present (e.g. batteries soon empty) you will receive a notification on your smartphone.
After a motion has been detected, how long does it take for a new motion to be detected (detection, Motion detector, prerequisites)?
After a detected movement, no further movement is detected for 180 seconds.
What happens after the Motion detector has detected a movement (requirements, functions, detection)?
The Motion detector sends a signal to your Smart Home controller. Here, for example, the following actions can be triggered via the "Alarm system" service:
- You will receive a notification on your cell phone.
- The siren of the Smoke alarm sounds.
- Connected Philips Hue lamps flash red.
This can be used to achieve a deterrent effect.
Furthermore, the Motion detector can serve as a trigger for scenarios and automations. It can also be integrated into the "Motion light" service and start any actions there.
How large is the area being monitored (Motion detector, functions, installation, mounting, requirements)?
Starting from the motion detector 90° to the sides and 12 m in depth.
Depending on whether the undercut protection is active, movements below the Motion detector are also checked at the specified angle.
What is the motion light (Motion detector, functions)?
The Motion detector now turns on all Philips Hue lamps in the same room when motion is detected.
For this purpose, the light sensitivity of the Motion detector can be adjusted individually. After the corresponding darkness has occurred, the light sensor triggers the function in combination with a detected movement of the motion sensor.
The light can be switched off in time intervals. Here you have the option to set different time intervals. In addition, the brightness (1 to 100%) of the Philips Hue lamps themselves can be adjusted.
To do this, you must have either a Philips Hue lamp or the "Light control flush-mounted" component for the corresponding lamp to be switched.
It should also be noted that the light is switched off time-dependently. After min. 5 minutes (selectable up to approx. 60 minutes) or optionally via the wall switch (flush-mounted control / Universal switch / Universal switch Flex).
How does motion detection work (Motion detector, functions)?
Bosch Smart Home Motion detector uses passive infrared technology. All bodies (people, animals, vehicles, trees, etc.) emit infrared heat rays. The Motion detector measures and compares the infrared radiation in its detection area, but does not emit any radiation itself and is therefore passive.
The connection is poor, the Motion detector is no longer accessible. What can I do (range, installation, mounting)?
If the Motion detector is displayed as unreachable in the app, it is possible that the distance between the Smart Home controller and the component is too great, or that other products have a disruptive influence on the connection. Also, make sure that the component is installed at least 1 meter away from the Smart Home controller, i.e. that it is not too close to the Smart Home controller.
What is the pet detection and under-crawl protection (Motion detector, functions)?
You can choose between pet detection and under-crawl protection on your Smart Home Motion detector. With the preset pet detection, pets up to 25 kg are not taken into account and the undercreep protection is deactivated. Activating the under-crawl protection ensures that movements do not go undetected even directly under your Motion detector.
You can set the corresponding setting under the following menu path: Management >> Devices >> Motion detectors >> Your corresponding Motion detector >> Additional functions >> Set sensitivity.
My Motion detector frequently triggers even though there is no motion. What can I do (alarm system, motion light, detection)?
Make sure you do not have any problematic objects within range of your Motion detector (for example, fan or radiator). In addition, if you have pets, activate the pet detection function. You can also find a detailed overview in theInstallation instructions.
Please also see our installation video in this article. If you have problems viewing the video, you can also find our installation and reset videos on our Bosch Smart Home Youtube Channel at the following addressLink.
Motion detector does not detect motion. What can I do (function check, test, no function, empty battery)?
To check the function of your Motion detector, please open your Smart Home App. In the device management please select the corresponding Motion detector and click there on "Test Motion detector".
If the test is negative, please follow the instructions in the app as well as in the operating / installation instructions under the followingLink.
Motion Detector - General Information
Motion Detector - General Information
What is the Bosch Smart Home Motion detector and what can it do (functions, information)?
The intelligent Motion detector from Bosch Smart Home reliably and precisely detects movement. It distinguishes between conspicuous and inconspicuous events. In this way, it only triggers an alarm when it is necessary.
The Bosch Smart Home Motion detector is a smart home component that uses a passive infrared sensor (PIR) to detect and report movement indoors.
There's something going on in your home - of course, after all, you lead an active life with your loved ones! When you leave the house, nothing is stirring there - except perhaps your cat, which is leisurely roaming the hallway. As part of your smart home system, the intelligent Motion detector distinguishes a break-in from your kitty's domestic stroll. In case of unwanted movements, it reacts twice: Via the system, it immediately sends you a notification via app. At the same time, it triggers the siren of the Smoke alarm.
Thus, they are informed on the way and uninvited guests are deterred on the spot. Accordingly, you can always be sure that your home - including cat - is well protected.

What exactly does the Bosch Smart Home Motion detector include?
The exact system requirements and the exact scope of delivery of the Bosch Smart Home Motion detector can be found on the corresponding product page of our webshop. Please follow this linkLink.
How can the Motion detector distinguish between humans and small animals (functions, information)?
Every living creature emits thermal radiation in the infrared range. For small animals, it is correspondingly less than for humans. Essentially, small animal detection raises the threshold for the heat sensor.
To set the appropriate sensitivity, please go to the additional functions of your Motion detector and follow the instructions in the "Sensitivity setting" item.
Where can I find the DIN standards / declarations of conformity for the Smart Home Smoke alarm (information)?
All standards can be found in the declarations of conformity on our homepage underLink.
