Bosch Smart Home controller II

The intelligent control centre – connects smart devices in a future-proof manner with maximum data security

Smart Home controller II

Smart home control centre

The Bosch Smart Home controller II is needed to use your smart home devices – it is the basis for smartness. It brings together all the information.

Connects wirelessly

The Smart Home controller II allows use of the Bosch Smart Home devices and partner devices – via the Zigbee wireless protocol and your home network (and is ready for the international standard Matter).

Connects your smart devices

Why does your Bosch Smart Home system need a controller? It is the control centre: It bundles all system information, connects devices/partner devices and thus controls functions, scenarios and automations.

Protects your data

Your Bosch Smart Home controller II stores all data locally as standard – and gives you full control if you want to use partner services which are linked via the cloud.

You have the previous controller model

Allows smart control

Your Bosch Smart Home controller II is the interface between your devices (Bosch Smart Home and partner devices) and the Bosch Smart Home app with which you control your smart home.

With the controller you can control your smart home via:

  • Voice assistants
  • Automations
  • Scenarios
  • Preconfigured services
  • App – even on the move

Protects data even on the move

Thanks to modern encryption procedures, communication between the Smart Home controller II and app is protected – even if accessed remotely while on the move.

You can choose:

  • Control your system at home only via your home network
  • or control it on the move to check that everything is OK.

Your data are secure at all times.

Smarter all the time

Your Smart Home controller II updates itself at regular intervals with free automatic software updates.

This guarantees maximum security and ensures that your smart home gets the latest functions.

Works even if the Internet fails

The Bosch Smart Home controller II does not store your data in a cloud, but locally on the controller itself. As a result, your system remains independent and responds quickly to your commands.

What is more, local execution of the most important functions, scenarios and automations is maintained even without an Internet connection. Your Bosch Smart Home System remains reliable and safe – no matter what happens.

Easy to install

The step-by-step instructions in the app make installing and setting up the Bosch Smart Home controller II very easy (see below).

Thanks to the function button, reset button and visual feedback from the LEDs, the controller can be operated intuitively.

Given its compact size of just 100x100x29 mm (HxWxD) and the flexible positioning options (fixed to the wall or lying), the Smart Home controller II fits in in any home.

Important information about the Smart Home controller II

Matter – ready for the future

Matter – ready for the future

Matter – ready for the future

Bosch favours the new international smart home connectivity standard Matter and will continuously implement Matter-enabled smart products and home appliances.

What is Matter?

Matter was developed as a common wireless protocol within the framework of the CSA (Connectivity Standards Alliance), which more than 240 leading IoT tech companies have joined including Apple, Google, Amazon and Bosch.

What is the advantage of Matter?

As a common wireless standard, Matter simplifies the interoperability of smart home devices from different manufacturers and the standardization of setup/update processes.

This should reduce the complexity of a smart home and allow use of basic functions (e.g. controlling devices) from the preferred smart home app.

Does the Smart Home controller II support Matter?

Prepared for the international Matter standard, the Bosch Smart Home controller II will make it possible to integrate existing Bosch Smart Home devices into Matter-compatible systems.

Our current devices with other communication protocols will thus become Matter-capable. This function will be made available later on via a free software update.

The Bosch Smart Home controller II works with second-generation Bosch Smart Home devices as well as the following products: Outdoor siren, motion detector, Twinguard, Twist, water alarm and smart plug compact.

If you use the Bosch Smart Home controller with first-generation devices, your system will continue to function reliably and receive regular software updates.

If however you need to switch to the Bosch Smart Home controller II, the radio stick will allow you to use all other first-generation devices. With the help of the radio stick, you will be able to use your previous automations and scenarios as well as functions and devices.

Integration of partners

Your Bosch Smart Home controller II connects different devices and systems.

You can integrate selected partner products or control our devices from partner applications and use functions such as voice control.

Note: With the Bosch Smart Home controller II you can integrate our devices into partner systems as you could with the previous Bosch Smart Home controller model.

Our development work for integrating our devices into HomeKit® via the Smart Home controller II is already complete. The Smart Home controller II is currently undergoing certification. As soon as this is complete, the Bosch Smart Home controller II can be updated via a software update. The devices can then be integrated into Apple HomeKit® and controlled for selected functions.

Connect Smart Home controller

Connect Smart Home controller

Step 1 of 4

When you set up your controller, your dream of a smart home begins. Installation is quick and easy:

  • Insert the network cable into the Bosch Smart Home controller and a free LAN port on your Wi-Fi router.
  • Connect the Smart Home controller to the mains using the power supply.
  • When the controller starts up, pay attention to the LEDs – they show the initialization status.

Note: If you connect your Bosch controller to the Internet for the first time, it can take a little longer. Your controller will automatically search for software updates. If updates are required, they will be downloaded and installed automatically. This process can take up to 30 minutes. During this time, you cannot continue setting up the Smart Home controller.

As soon as all the LEDs light up green, your controller is ready for use.

Step 2 of 4

The next step does not take long:

  • Download the Bosch Smart Home app. You will need this for installation, configuration and operation.

Another important point: In order to set up the controller, the mobile end device (smartphone or tablet) on which the Bosch Smart Home app is installed must be in the Wi-Fi network of the router to which you have connected the controller.
