The most frequently asked questions about the operation of the Smart Plug
Smart Plug - Operations
Can I plug the Bosch Smart Home plug into a power strip?
Operation in a socket strip is not recommended.
Are there any restrictions on the operation of the smart plug (prerequisites)?
The following restrictions must be observed when operating the Bosch Smart Home smart plug: Check that the scope of delivery is undamaged. Install only faultless parts. Connect the adapter plug only to an easily accessible mains socket outlet with earthing contacts. In case of danger, disconnect the device from the mains socket. Do not plug intermediate plugs one behind the other. Do not use intermediate plugs in socket strips or with extension cables. Do not connect terminal devices whose unattended switching on can cause fires or other damage (e.g. iron). Always remove the plug of the terminal device from the intermediate plug before making any changes to the terminal device (e.g. changing light bulbs). Devices with electronic power supply units (e.g. TV sets or high-voltage LED lamps) do not represent ohmic loads. They can generate inrush currents of over 100A. Switching such loads leads to premature wear. As a result, it is possible that the connected consumer is not reliably switched off. Do not use intermediate plugs for disconnection. The load is not electrically isolated from the mains. The current operating and installation instructions under the following apply.
The consumption view does not change although I have plugged in / unplugged a device. What am I doing wrong (smart plug)?
It may take some time until the new value is displayed in the app. If this does not change over time, unplug the smart plug briefly and then plug it in again. Afterwards the correct consumption is displayed.
What happens to the smart plug after a power failure?
In this case, your smart plug are always switched off by default as soon as the power failure is over. You can switch them on again either on the device or in the app. If you have created automations with the smart plug as actuator, you will control the plug adapter normally again.
Why can't I find the "automatic switch-off" function for the smart adapter plug anymore?
The function has been removed because you can implement a conversion via automation. Please set the following automation: 1. WHEN the adapter plug is switched on 2. AND period 20-24 hrs 3. THEN after 5 minutes intermediate plug off The shutdown function can thus be configured in much more detail. In addition, several automations can be configured with different switch-off conditions.
General information about the Smart Plug
Smart Plug - General Information
Does the smart plug have lightning or surge protection?
The smart plug has limited surge protection in accordance with the guidelines required for sale in Europe. A Lightning strikes lead to a very high overvoltage, for which the intermediate plug is not designed. As a rule, however, no technical device in the household is protected against a direct lightning strike.
Can I also use the Bosch Smart Home plug outdoors?
Your Bosch Smart Home plug was designed by us for indoor use only and may not be used outdoors. Such use will invalidate your warranty and guarantee claims. Please note that the improper use of your Bosch Smart Home adapter plug involves an unchecked theoretical risk potential which can be caused by the effects of humidity, heat or cold as well as other natural environmental factors.
Can my Bosch Smart Home Plug extend the range of my other Bosch Smart Home devices?
The Bosch Smart Home Plug can extend the range between the Smart Home Controller and the following devices Light control (DE/AUT only) Shutter control (DE/AUT only) Room thermostats Room thermostats underfloor heating (only DE/AUT) Radiator thermostats Door/ window contacts Smoke alarm Smart Plug Universal switch (Flex) For the range extension to work, this plug should ideally be inserted halfway between your smart home controller and the device with reception problems. It is possible to connect at least 2 intermediate plugs "in series" to further increase the radio range. The "range extension" function must be activated for the corresponding plugs. Further configuration is not necessary. In principle, this function should be activated with as few intermediate plugs as necessary in order to keep the signal propagation times small and not to load the frequency band unnecessarily. Important: Each additional intermediate signal processing component increases the signal propagation time and thus also the reaction time when controlling your terminal equipment. Each active component generates additional data traffic in the frequency band.
How can I reset the Bosch Smart Home Plug to the factory settings?
To perform a reset on your device, please proceed as follows:Press the system button when plugging into a socket until the LED flashes orange quickly.
