Universal switch II - Installation
Make sure you have a Bosch Smart Home controller and the Bosch Smart Home app and have successfully set up both. Now start the Bosch Smart Home app and select "Add device". Follow the instructions in the Bosch Smart Home app.

The cover has a notch on the lower side (Bosch logo). You can insert a fingernail or, for example, a coin there to pry it open.

The device is maintenance-free. Leave repairs to a qualified professional. A soft, clean, dry and lint-free cloth can be used for cleaning. Avoid using solvent-based cleaning agents.
The battery level is low or there is a communication error.
Pay attention to notifications in the Smart Home app. Contact service if necessary.
The pairing mode was not successful or a process has failed.
If this is the first pairing attempt, please try again. Otherwise, reset the device to factory settings and contact service if necessary.

The pairing mode or was successfully completed.
When pressing the buttons on the Universal switch II:
The Universal switch II also flashes green when a command has been sent to the Bosch Smart Home controller and the Bosch Smart Home controller confirms receipt.
The LED on the Universal switch II always flashes orange first and then green when a button is pressed.
The pairing mode is active or the device is communicating with the Bosch Smart Home controller II.
To reset the Bosch Smart Home Universal switch II to factory settings, proceed as follows:
1.) Remove one battery.
2.) While holding down the control and system button (3), reinsert the battery. Keep the button pressed until the status LED (4) flashes orange.
3.) Briefly release the control and system button.
4.) Press and hold the control and system button again until the status LED lights up green.
5.) The device will then restart. Please note that it may take a few seconds for the device to be ready for operation again.
6.) Open the Bosch Smart Home app and remove the corresponding device in the device settings. The Universal switch II can now be paired again.
If the status LED lights up red during the process, remove one battery and start the process again.

Problem: Universal switch II is blinking red and not responding to button press
Observed behavior:
- The Universal switch II is blinking red repeatedly.
- The device does not respond to button press (no LED feedback).
- The problem also occurs near the controller (2-3 meters) or with an intermediate plug for range extension.

The Bosch Smart Home Universal switch II has protection class IP 20 and is therefore not suitable for outdoor use.
Installation in existing switch series is not possible due to the housing dimensions (W x H x D) of 70 x 70 x 20 mm.
No spare parts are available for the Bosch Smart Home Universal switch II.
The scope of delivery of the Bosch Smart Home Universal switch II includes a quick guide, a wall mount with adhesive pad, and 36 printed stickers for individual button labeling.
The typical battery life of the Bosch Smart Home Universal Switch II is up to 2 years.
Two batteries of type LR03 AAA 1.5 V are required.
The ZigBee 3.0 wireless protocol is used.
The Bosch Smart Home Universal switch II can only be used in combination with the Bosch Smart Home controller (II).
You can integrate the Bosch Smart Home Universal Switch II into Amazon Alexa as well as Google Assistant.
The prerequisite for integration is the Bosch Smart Home controller II including the Bosch Smart Home App (iOS, Android).
Included symbol stickers for labeling the individually defined functions make smart home control via the Universal switch II intuitive even for children and guests. In addition, tactile embossing provides orientation even in the dark.
Also helpful: Flashing signals from the multi-colored LED strip visually confirm the execution of the desired actions.
With the Bosch Smart Home Universal switch II, you control your most important Smart Home functions – completely without a smartphone and therefore particularly practical for guests, children and seniors. The Universal switch II can be mounted on the wall or used as a portable remote control.
Simply assign up to 2 of your favorite functions to each of the 4 buttons in the Smart Home app: This way you control devices or trigger scenarios and automations with a specific button press.
Integration into Amazon and Google Home also enables a combination with compatible products from other manufacturers.*
*For partner integration, the Bosch Smart Home controller including Bosch Smart Home app (iOS, Android) is required.
In addition to the button assignments in the assistant of the Bosch Smart Home App, the Universal switch II can also be used as a trigger in automations (short and long button press).
In the configuration wizard in the Bosch Smart Home App, you can assign functions to a short and long button press.
You can distribute the operation of devices and the triggering of actions across one or more buttons.
The Smart plug compact [+M] is only available as plug type F. Therefore, it is only suitable for countries where this plug type is used. These are specifically:
- Germany, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
Consequently, you cannot use the Smart plug compact [+M] in other countries.
