The Bosch Smart Home Water alarm should be placed near water-carrying pipes or near a water-carrying appliance. Place the Bosch Smart Home water sensor on a smooth and level surface so that escaping liquids can be optimally detected.
The Water alarm should always be placed flexibly in the room. The Water alarm will alert you if it is moved. Please note that gluing it down could constitute improper use and may void warranty claims.
Installation of the Bosch Smart Home Water alarm
Step 1: Download app
- Download the Bosch Smart Home App from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Make sure your Smart Home Controller is operational.
- Open the Bosch Smart Home App.
- Go to device settings.
- Select "Add device".
- Follow the instructions in the Smart Home App.

Remove one battery from the Water alarm. While reinserting the battery, press and hold the button until the LED blinks orange. Release and press again until the LED lights up green. The Water alarm will now reset to factory settings.
The starting point is the pairing of the water alarm. During this phase, the water alarm is moved. After successful inclusion in the Bosch Smart Home system, the behavior of the water alarm during movement is now tested. However, the water alarm does not respond. Also, no push notification is sent to the Smart Home app.
The firmware of the Bosch Smart Home water alarm was programmed so that the water alarm does not respond to movement for 3 minutes during the pairing process.
Every time the water alarm is moved during this time, this function resets.
Therefore, leave the water alarm untouched for at least 3 minutes after completing the installation.

Should the Bosch Smart Home Water alarm be displaced by animals or people, you will automatically receive a push notification on your smartphone.
If the connection between your water detector and the Bosch Smart Home Controller is poor, either move the two devices closer together or use the Compact Smart Plug as a range extender.
The water alarm is splash-proof to IP44 on all sides. Complete immersion in water must be avoided.
You can deactivate the alarm directly on the device and via the Bosch Smart Home App you also have the option to mute the alarm.
With the Bosch Smart Home Compact Smart Plug, you have the option to extend the range of the Smart Home Controller.
The focus of the Bosch Smart Home Water alarm is on detecting a possible water leak and not on shutting off water pipes.
All cameras integrated into the Bosch Smart Home are activated in the event of a water alarm.
You have the option to deactivate the Bosch Smart Home water detector directly on the device itself by pressing the black button on the bottom.
Alarm forwarding is not possible. However, you will receive acoustic and visual feedback via the app and through integrated Smart LEDs.
Your Bosch Smart Home App will notify you when the battery level is below 30%.
Electrical or electronic devices that are no longer usable, as well as defective or used batteries, must be collected separately and disposed of in an environmentally sound manner (European Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). Use the country-specific return and collection systems for the disposal of waste electrical or electronic equipment and batteries.
There is no limitation on the number of Bosch Smart Home Water alarms you can use. However, please be aware that in very large systems, the response speed of the integrated devices may decrease.

### Behavior of the Bosch Smart Home Water Alarm after Detected Position Change
#### Functions and Notifications
Beep and App Notification: When the motion sensor of the water alarm detects a change in position, the alarm emits a beep and sends a notification to the Bosch Smart Home App.
#### Timeout Phase
Duration: If the water alarm has been moved, it then has a timeout phase of 5 minutes.
Response: During these 5 minutes, the water alarm does not respond to further movements or position changes.
Timer Reset: If the water alarm is moved during the timeout phase, the internal timer restarts and the 5 minutes begin again from the start.
#### Behavior when Restarting the Water Alarm
Restart: When removing and reinserting the batteries, the water alarm also does not respond to movements for 5 minutes.
No Notification: During this time, you will not receive a notification to the Smart Home App.
#### Limited Notifications
Please note that your Bosch Smart Home Water Alarm does not trigger with every movement and you will not always be informed via push notification.

Since the Water alarm is a safety-relevant device, the use of rechargeable batteries is strongly discouraged. Please use the supplied batteries or equivalent batteries.
The Bosch Smart Home Water alarm reliably protects you and your home from leaking liquids from a height of 1.5mm. In the event of a liquid leak, your Bosch Smart Home Water alarm will sound an acoustic alert. You will also receive a corresponding notification on your smartphone. Integrated smart LEDs flash blue and integrated cameras provide a live stream.

Humidity measurement is not possible.
The Bosch Smart Home Water alarm triggers an alarm at a water level of 1.5mm.
Integration with Google Home is currently not possible.
Integration with Amazon Alexa is currently not planned.

The Bosch Smart Home Water alarm has a height of 25mm. The possibility of using it under washing machines therefore depends on the type of washing machine.
The Bosch Smart Home Water alarm triggers an acoustic alarm for all electrically conductive liquids.
A display of the Water alarm on the Bosch Smart Home Twist screen is currently not possible.
The Bosch Smart Home water detector can be integrated into Apple HomeKit.
For the partner integration, the Bosch Smart Home Controller including the Bosch Smart Home App for iOS is required.
The scope of delivery of the Bosch Smart Home Water alarm includes the Water alarm itself as well as the Quickstart Guide and the pre-installed batteries.
Clean the device with a soft, clean, dry and lint-free cloth. For the removal of heavier soiling, the cloth can be slightly moistened with lukewarm water
The range of the Bosch Smart Home Controller is approximately 100m in open field. Structural conditions affect the range. To extend the signal, you can use the Compact Smart Plug.
Should liquid run under the Bosch Smart Home Water alarm, the golden contacts on the underside are closed. This closes a circuit and an acoustic signal sounds from the alarm.
The Bosch Smart Home Water alarm cannot currently be integrated as an acoustic alarm device into the alarm system.
The volume measured at a distance of one meter is 75dbA.
The Water alarm has protection class IP44 and is therefore protected against splash water from all sides.
The typical battery life of the Bosch Smart Home Water Detector is approximately three years, depending on usage.

The Bosch Smart Home Water alarm uses the Zigbee 3.0 radio protocol, just like the Bosch Smart Home Twinguard, the Bosch Smart Home motion detector and the Bosch Smart Home Twist
Cover both contacts on the underside of the water alarm with your finger or apply some liquid. Do not hold the triggering alarm close to your ear.
If necessary, contact your home contents or building insurance company.
In the event that the Bosch Smart Home water sensor detects a leaking liquid, the reporting water alarm triggers an acoustic alarm, you receive a corresponding message on your smartphone, integrated Smart LEDs flash blue and if you have integrated cameras into the system, they provide a livestream.
You can use the Bosch Smart Home Water Detector without a Bosch Smart Home Controller, but in the event of an alarm, no notification will be sent via the app. For the full range of functions, we recommend using the Bosch Smart Home Water Detector in combination with a Bosch Smart Home Controller.
