Which adhesive tape is suitable for mounting the Bosch Smart Home motion sensor?
Only the supplied adhesive tape is suitable for mounting and installing the motion sensor. In principle, other adhesive tapes are also possible. However, we cannot assume any warranty for these.
Why do I need the built-in spirit level?
The built-in spirit level ensures that the motion detector is always correctly aligned and hangs straight on the wall, especially when screw mounting.
I'm afraid I'll mess up the motion detector if I pierce the holes. Can I break something?
Even though it may not appear so at first glance, the material at the breakthrough points is designed to be pierced with little force. Don't worry, you can't break anything here.
Why is only one battery included (motion detector)?
In normal operation a battery provides a battery life of approx. 5 years. To extend this, you can optionally insert another battery.
My lamp, which is in the adapter plug, cannot be switched on?
Please check whether under "Administration" -> "Devices"-> "Adapter plug" the check mark "Lamp connected" is set for the corresponding device. This setting treats the adapter plug like a luminaire and integrates it into the "Movement light" and "Presence simulation" services. You can also control the adapter plug under your "Favourites" using the "Room light" tile together with other luminaires in the room.

The most frequently asked questions about the operation of the motion detector
Motion Detector - Operations
My motion detector triggers frequently even though no motion is visible. What can I do?
Make sure that no problematic objects are within reach of your motion detector (e.g. fan or radiator). If you have pets, also activate pet detection. You will also find a detailed overview in the installation instructions. Please also see our installation video in this article. If you have problems viewing the video, you can also find our installation and reset videos on our Bosch Smart Home Youtube Channel at the following link.
What is the pet detection and undercrawl protection (smart home motion detector)?
You can choose between pet detection and sneak-by protection on your smart home motion detector. With the default pet detection, pets up to 25 kg are not considered and the anti-creep feature is disabled. Activating the sneak-by protection ensures that movements directly under your motion sensor are not undetected. You can set the corresponding setting under the following menu path: Management > Devices > Motion Detector > Your corresponding motion detector > Additional functions > Set sensitivity.
What happens after the motion alarm detects a movement?
The motion alarm sends a signal to your Smart Home Controller. Here, for example, the following actions can be triggered via the "Alarm System" service: You receive a notification on your mobile phone. The siren of the smoke alarm sounds. Connected Philips Hue lamps flash red. This can have a deterrent effect. Furthermore, the motion detector can be used as a trigger for scenarios and automation. It can also be integrated into the "Movement Light" service, where it can be used to initiate any actions.
What is the motion light?
The motion detector now switches on all Philips Hue lamps in the same room when motion is detected. The light sensitivity of the motion detector can be adjusted individually. After the corresponding darkness sets in, the light sensor triggers the function in combination with a detected movement of the motion sensor. The light can be switched off at time intervals. You have the option of setting different time intervals here. You can also adjust the brightness (1 to 100%) of Philips Hue lamps yourself. To do this, you must have either a Philips Hue or the "Flush-mounted light control" component for the corresponding lamp to be switched. Please also note that the light is switched off depending on the time. After at least 5 minutes (selectable up to approx. 60) or optionally via the wall switch (flush-mounted control / universal switch / universal switch Flex).
How large is the area that is monitored?
Starting from the motion detector 90° to the sides and 12 m in depth. Depending on whether the lower level protection is active, a check is also carried out below the motion detector for movements at the specified angle.
The connection is bad, the motion detector is no longer accessible. What can I do?
If the motion sensor is displayed as not reachable in the app, it is possible that the distance between Smart Home Controller and component is too great or that other products have a disturbing influence on the connection. Also make sure that the component is installed at least 1 meter away from the Smart Home Controller i.e. not too close to the Smart Home Controller
How does motion detection (motion detector) work?
The Bosch Smart Home motion sensor uses passive infrared technology. All bodies (people, animals, vehicles, trees, etc.) emit infrared heat rays. The motion detector measures and compares the infrared radiation in its detection range, but does not emit any radiation itself and is therefore passive.
How often do I have to test the motion detector?
You only need to test the motion detector once during installation. As soon as there is a malfunction (e.g. batteries soon empty) you will receive a notification on your smartphone.
The motion detector does not detect motion. What can I do?
To check the function of your motion sensor, please open your Smart Home App. In the device administration, please select the corresponding motion detector and click on "Test motion detector". If the test is negative, please follow the instructions in the app as well as in the operating / installation manual under the following link.
After a detected movement, how long does it take before a new movement can be detected?
After a detected movement no further movement is detected for 180sec.

What is the anti-theft protection?
The anti-theft protection is a part of the motion detector, which remains on the wall/corner if the device is removed from the wall/corner by force and sends a signal to the Smart Home Controller and thus also to the connected smartphones. This only works reliably when the device is mounted with screws.

Where can I find the DIN standards / declarations of conformity for the Smart Home smoke alarm?
All standards can be found in the declarations of conformity on our homepage under Link.
How can the motion detector distinguish between humans and small animals?
Every living creature emits heat radiation in the infrared range. In small animals it is correspondingly less than in humans. Essentially, small animal detection raises the threshold value for the heat sensor. To set the corresponding sensitivity, please go to the additional functions of your motion sensor and follow the instructions in the "Sensitivity setting" section.

What is the Bosch Smart Home motion sensor and what can it do?
The intelligent Bosch Smart Home Motion Detector reliably detects movement and instantly alerts you and your Smart Home System. The Motion Detector distinguishes between unauthorised motion and unremarkable events so the alarm is only sounded when necessary. The Bosch Smart Home motion detector is a Smart Home component that uses a passive infrared sensor (PIR) to detect and report indoor movement. Lots goes on in your home while you're there- but when you leave the house, nothing moves anymore. The Bosch Smart Home Motion Detector has an intelligent sensor which tells the difference between a burglary and your dog running into the living room. If unauthorised motion is detected, the Motion Detector immediately performs two actions- firstly sending you a notification via the Smart Home app while at the same time triggering your Smoke alarm to sound the alarm. You receive the notification, even if you're away from home so you can rest assured that your home- and dog- are protected.
