My Bosch Smart Home controller is not accessible (remote access, WLAN). What can I do (connection, range, WLAN, router, Telekom)?
If your Bosch Smart Home controller is not accessible, follow these steps:
1. If you are at home, check if there is a WLAN connection to your router. If you are not at home, make sure that you have enabled remote access. You need an Internet connection via your cell phone. The minimum requirement is two signal bars and an EDGE connection (marked with an "E" at the reception bar).
2. check if there is an update of the Bosch Smart Home app in your app store.
Remove the Smart Home controller from the power supply for about 2 minutes and plug it back in. Then wait until at least two LEDs light up constantly. Check the accessibility of the Smart Home controller again.
Important: The Smart Home controller must be connected to the same WLAN router that your smartphone will use to communicate with the controller.
Is data lost when the Smart Home controller is reset to the factory state (reset, reset)?
Yes, a reset of the Bosch Smart Home controller will delete all data of your Smart Home system (e.g. installed devices, room names, accounts). When you reinstall your system, you reassign them.
How can I connect the Bosch Smart Home controller to the WLAN (Fritzbox, router, installation, connection)?
The Bosch Smart Home controller is connected to the router via LAN cable. A connection to the WLAN is not technically provided.
How do I install the Bosch Smart Home controller (installation, mounting)?
The Smart Home controller is the heart of your Bosch Smart Home system and all compatible devices. It receives commands that you instruct via different control units, such as app, voice control or mobile remote control. These are then forwarded to your smart home devices and executed immediately.
The Smart Home controller can be installed in a few simple steps. All you need is the Bosch Smart Home app and the accessories included in the packaging. After starting the Bosch Smart Home app, it will guide you through the individual installation steps.

No, the Bosch Smart Home controller does not have a backup function. When replacing the controller, a new installation and configuration is necessary. Likewise, the user name, set rooms and time profiles must be reset.
Which ports are used by the Smart Home controller (router, Internet, connection)?
The ports required for operation are opened and closed dynamically by the Smart Home controller as needed, so all ports should be closed in the default setting of your router. No port forwarding is used.
Can the Smart Home controller be accessed via a VPN connection (encrypted, tunnel, connection)?
No, we do not support remote access to the Smart Home controller via custom VPNs.
Note: Custom VPNs are solutions that you as a customer set up and manage yourself on your hardware, e.g. Fritzbox, Raspberry Pi, etc., in order to access your home network while on the road, for example. This does not refer to commercial VPN providers and pseudo VPN providers (e.g. Samsung: "Secure WLAN"). If you use commercial VPN providers to access your Smart Home controller while on the move, it is necessary to activate remote access in the Smart Home app.
What happens if the Smart Home controller is disconnected from power for a short time (unplugged, power failure, prerequisites)?
As soon as the power supply is restored, the controller automatically connects and re-establishes contact with all connected components. In the event of a power failure, the time is buffered for approx. 4 hours. This means that as long as the power does not fail for more than 4 hours, your automations, if any, will continue to function as usual.
What should I know about remote access to my system (Smart Home system, Smart Home controller, Smart Home controller II, connection, access app)?
Remote access means that a device outside the WLAN network where your smart home system is installed is allowed to access the system. If you deactivate remote access, reactivating remote access outside the home WLAN is no longer possible for security reasons.
Remote access via smartphone works regardless of whether the smartphone is currently communicating via mobile data or WLAN. However, problems may occur if the home WLAN network in which your smart home system is installed has the same name (SSID) as the foreign WLAN network.

What is the range of the Bosch Smart Home controller (connection, mounting, installation, information)?
The range of the Bosch Smart Home controller is about 30 meters (inside a building) or 100 meters (outdoor range).
This may vary due to local conditions, e.g. reinforced concrete ceilings or underfloor heating may degrade the radio signal.
Position your Smart Home controller as centrally as possible in your household. For an optimal connection of the Smart Home products to the controller, they should be at least one meter away from the Smart Home controller.
Likewise, the Smart Home controller should be at least one meter away from your WLAN router, otherwise interference may occur.
Where can I find the IP address of my Smart Home controller (home network, local)?
You can obtain the IP address of your Smart Home controller by connecting an empty USB stick to the USB port of your Smart Home controller and waiting briefly. A text file with the name "shc-status" is then located on the USB stick. The IP address is stored in it (under the "IP address:" field).
Attention: The USB stick is emptied by the Smart Home controller before it is written with the mentioned text file. Make sure that the USB stick used does not contain any important data.
Alternatively, you can locate the IP address of the Smart Home controller in the settings of your home network router.
Does the Bosch Smart Home Smoke alarm also work with the Bosch Smart Home Twinguard (functions, information, requirements)?
Yes, the Bosch Smart Home Twinguard can be integrated into the Bosch Smart Home System. The Twinguard forwards fire alarms to the Bosch Smart Home Smoke alarm and, as part of the alarm system, can perform the function of an audible alarm. In addition, the Twinguard can also receive alarms from other Smoke alarms.
How many devices can I add to my Bosch Smart Home system (app, number, rooms, components, devices, installation, requirements)?
The Bosch Smart Home System enables the integration of smart devices in a privately used single-family house or apartment.
For technical reasons, the maximum number of devices and usable scenarios and automations in the smart home system is limited. For all devices using the proprietary radio protocol (radio frequency 868 MHz), the maximum number is 100 devices.
The concrete maximum number depends strongly on the individual usage, but only becomes relevant for very large smart home installations, which typically do not occur in a single-family house or apartment. In this case, the speed of use may become noticeably slower or the Smart Home controller may no longer be able to start if the limits are exceeded.
The integration of a device is not possible despite several attempts. What can I do (installation, reset, reset)?
