What happens after a smoke alarm or Twinguard detects a fire?
Your Bosch Smart Home Smoke Alarm/Twinguard will start emitting a loud signal simultaneously with a normal smoke alarm. All other installed Bosch Smart Home Smoke Alarms and Twinguards will also trigger. All connected smart lights will turn yellow and the light controls will turn on to illuminate your escape route. All integrated shutter controls will raise the shutters so that the escape route is clear. You will also receive a notification on your smartphone and can alert the fire brigade directly from the app. From the app you can also mute the additional smoke alarms and Twinguards that are attached. For security reasons, you cannot deactivate the flashing smoke alarm via the app. To receive a notification via push message, you must be connected to the Internet with your smartphone.
Does the smoke alarm emit different tones in case of burglary and smoke alarm?
In the event of a burglar alarm, the smoke alarm emits three tones in quick succession. The smoke alarm, similar to other common smoke alarm, emits sounds at regular intervals.
What happens during a smoke alarm if I press a button on another networked smoke alarm?
In this case, the alarms will stop at the networked smoke alarms to which the alarm was forwarded. Only the alarm at the triggering smoke alarm continues to sound.
What happens in case of a burglar alarm when I press the button of a connected Smart Home smoke alarm?

What happens if I accidentally trigger the burglar alarm when I get home and my cell phone battery is dead?
In addition to the familiar deactivation in our Smart Home App, you would have the following additional options for deactivation: Scenario "Coming home" as assignment on the Smart Home Universal switch / Universal switch Flex Scenario "Coming home" as assignment on the twist After 5 minutes smoke alarms and Twinguards are muted. However, the Phillips Hue lights continue to flash red. The alarm condition will remain until deactivated by the user.
How can I deactivate the smoke alarm temporarily to drill or cook, for example?
By pressing the control button, i.e. when the test alarm is triggered, the detector goes into hush mode (mute) after 3 flashes. This runs for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes it returns to normal mode (operation mode). During these 10 minutes you can start actions such as drilling or cooking without the smoke alarm detecting an alarm. During the muting period the alarm is muted and does not detect an alarm during this time - this is indicated by the flashing.
Why is there no notification in the Smart Home App in case of smoke alarm?
If a smoke alarm detects smoke for less than 10 seconds, the other smoke alarms in the system are informed, but not the Smart Home Controller. The smoke alarm leaves the alarm state, e.g. because no more smoke was detected (alarm ended). As a result, the Twinguards integrated in the system do not notice the alarm state and do not trigger it.
General information about smoke alarms
Smoke Detector - General Information
According to the law, the smoke alarm must be checked once a year. Can this be replaced by the Smart Home smoke alarm and the test alarm? What does this look like legally?
Smoke alarms must be serviced regularly and the function of the smoke alarms checked. The responsibility for installation and maintenance varies in Germany according to federal state. Whether tenants or landlords are responsible for maintenance and installation is regulated in the corresponding state building regulations and in the application standard for smoke alarms (DIN 14676). Further information can be found on the Internet, for example under the following (German). A function test can be carried out on site using the control knob on the smoke alarm or via the app. The above distinction between the responsibility of the landlord and the tenant is important because the app and the associated data of Bosch Smart Home products in a rental relationship are not intended for the landlord. The data in the Bosch Smart Home Apps is private data. The Bosch Smart Home products are designed in such a way that the app is only available to the respective residents of an apartment, but not to the landlord. The Bosch Smart Home smoke alarms also do not allow landlords to perform maintenance and a functional test remotely (remotely) and to make a record of this test. The above information applies to Germany. In Austria, UK and France other regulations may apply. Bosch Smart Home recommends a monthly check over and above the legal requirements.
Has the design of the Bosch Smart Home smoke alarm been tested and by whom?
The design of the Bosch Smart Home smoke alarm was tested and confirmed by the KRIWAN test laboratory.
Can the Bosch Ferion smoke alarm be integrated into the Bosch Smart Home System?
Unfortunately the Bosch Ferion smoke alarms are not part of our system, so they cannot be connected to our Bosch Smart Home System. Only the Bosch Smart Home smoke alamr and the Bosch Smart Home Twinguard can be integrated into the Bosch Smart Home System.
How does the smoke alarm work?
The smoke alarm works on the photoelectric scattered light principle. A light source continuously sends light beams into the measuring chamber of the smoke detector. Normally you will miss the photocell installed there. However, if there are smoke particles in the air, the light beams are scattered and can be detected by the photocell. If a limit value is exceeded, a smoke alarm is triggered.
How long do the smoke alarm batteries last?
The battery of the Bosch Smart Home Smoke Alarm will last more than 10 years, based on typical storage temperature -5 °C to +30 °C, typical battery temperature -5 °C to +30 °C, and monthly functional testing. High temperatures above 30 °C shorten the life span. In addition, the number of interactions with the device - such as teach-in attempts, resetting, alarm tests, frequent triggering of an alarm - can negatively affect battery life. A non-replaceable 3 V lithium battery is installed in the smoke alarm. You will be informed in good time via your app and acoustically via the smoke alarm if the battery capacity is soon exhausted. Please replace the smoke alarm then. We generally recommend replacing the smoke alarm after about 10 years of use, as the reliability of the system is then reduced due to soiling and aging of the components.
Where do I ideally install the smoke alarm?
How loud is the smoke alarm during a test alarm, burglar alarm or fire alarm?
Does the smoke alarm also work if there is no connection to the Smart Home Controller?
If there is no connection to the Smart Home Controller, the Bosch Smart Home Smoke alarm continues to function as a normal smoke alarm and reliably alerts you in case of fire and smoke formation. However, the information / message can only be forwarded to the Bosch Smart Home App if there is a connection to the Smart Home Controller.
Is there a smoke alarm obligation in my federal state?
All German federal states have a smoke alarm obligation, which will be implemented nationwide by 2020 at the latest. Detailed information on the regulations in the individual federal states can be found at . In Austria there are regulations for new buildings, conversions and existing buildings in almost all federal provinces. These regulations often even apply to all lounges in your home. Different rules may apply in the UK and France.
Why should I use a smoke alarm?
A smoke alarm can save lives. In Germany alone, there are about 6,000 severe injuries due to fires every year. Approximately 80 % of all fire accidents occur in private homes. Approximately 70 % of the burn victims' injuries are caused by fires at night that started while they were asleep. A smoke alarm detects and provides early warning of a fire hazard and can thus avoid accidents and injuries. The statistics mentioned are only valid for Germany and may differ in Austria, UK and France.
In which rooms must the smoke alarm be installed?
What happens in case of a burglar alarm when I press the button of a connected Smart Home smoke alarm or Twinguard?

The prerequisite for this is that the "Audible alarm" action in the alarm system is set to the value "On". To receive a notification, you must be connected to the Internet with your smartphone.
