### Storage of Video Clips from the Bosch Smart Home Eyes Outdoor Camera I
The Bosch Smart Home Eyes Outdoor Camera I stores video clips in online storage. Here you will find the most important information about storage duration and management of your clips:
#### Storage Duration
Standard retention: Video clips are kept for30 daysin online storage.
Early deletion:You can delete clips at any time via the Smart Camera App.
#### Extended Retention
Mark as favorites:Mark clips as favorites to protect them from automatic deletion.
Export:Save clips to your mobile device to keep them permanently.
#### Upper Limit in Online Storage
Maximum number:Online storage can hold up to200 clips.
Automatic deletion:Once the upper limit is reached, the oldest clips will be deleted – unless they are marked as favorites.
With these features, you can flexibly manage your video clips and ensure that important recordings are preserved.
Background:
To effectively avoid false alarms, motion detection is carried out by 2 camera components: Motion detection using passive infrared motion detectors and (PIR) motion detection using video analysis.
If there are now missing events, i.e. video recordings are not made, this will be due to either the Motion detector or the video analysis.
Problems with the video analysis can be remedied by changing the settings in the Smart Camera app.
If there are problems with the Motion detector, the installation must be changed. It is generally advantageous to understand the customer's installation situation in order to be able to assess which component is affected.
Problem-solving approach 1:
The installation chosen by the customer is unfavorable for motion detection using Motion detectors. The Bosch outdoor camera has a detection range of up to 12 m. Under certain circumstances, the distance range may be reduced with the passive infrared sensor used. Due to the principle of these sensors, the detection of longitudinal movements (in the direction of the sensor) is worse than the detection of transverse movements (e.g. passing through the camera image from left to right).
Accordingly, if there are problems with the detection range, possible mounting locations and the mounting angle should be taken into account. We recommend mounting the camera at an angle so that lateral movements occur when walking through the camera image on the typical paths. In addition, mounting the camera higher can lead to significant improvements. The camera height should not exceed 2.5m. Our recommendation for the optimum height of the camera is between 2.20 m and 2.50 m.
Problem-solving approach 2:
The sensitivity of the video analysis is too low to detect robust movements. You can use the Smart Camera app to adjust the sensitivity of your outdoor camera. If there are no recordings on your system, increasing the sensitivity can improve motion detection. Increasing the motion zones is also often an advantage here.
If the problem is worse at night than during the day, we would also suggest increasing the sensitivity. If this does not improve the situation, you can also deactivate the motion light and switch on the ambient lighting on a time-controlled basis instead. The background to this is that it can take up to 2 seconds for the camera to adapt to the new lighting situation when the light is switched on. Therefore, depending on the structural situation, people may not be captured on video during this unfavorable transition period.

### Controlling the Lighting Duration for Motion Detection
You can easily adjust the lighting duration for motion detection via the Smart Camera App. To do so, proceed as follows:
1. **Open the Smart Camera App.**
2. **Navigate to the settings.**
3. **Select the "Lighting" section.**
4. **Go to "Motion Light".**
Here you can select the desired lighting duration. Available options are:
- 30 seconds
- 1 minute
- 5 minutes
Adjust the lighting duration according to your needs.
### Problem: Eyes outdoor camera light turns on too late
If your Bosch Smart Home Eyes outdoor camera is installed at the end of an ascending staircase, the vertical monitoring angle of approximately 80° (40° up and down respectively) may not be sufficient to detect movements in time.
#### Solutions for better lighting and motion detection:
1. **Increase motion detector sensitivity**:
- Set the motion detector sensitivity to "high". This allows the Eyes outdoor camera to better detect even smaller movements.
2. **Activate time-controlled lighting**:
- Create rules to activate the lighting on a time-controlled basis. This way, the area will be automatically illuminated at set times, independent of motion detection.
3. **Use dusk-controlled lighting**:
- Activate the lighting on the Eyes outdoor camera with dusk control. This means that theambient lightautomatically illuminates the staircase at dusk. When motion is detected, thefront lightadditionally turns on and provides even more brightness.
With these adjustments, you can ensure that your staircase is always well-lit and movements are detected in time
